Alexandrite laser: what is it? And how does it work?

 

The Candela GentleLASE 755 nm alexandrite laser for hair removal allows for fast, comfortable, and effective treatments.

 

The Mini GentleLase Alexandrite is a laser with an alexandrite crystal with a wavelength of 755nm. Its operation is based on the emission of an extremely intense and precise beam of light that penetrates the epidermis and reaches deep tissue layers where it is selectively absorbed by melanin. In this sense, melanin acts as the vehicle for conducting the laser beam to the deeper structures.

 

Once in this location, a thermal reaction occurs that will cause the destruction of the hair, the hair bulb, and the vascular structures that support the hair, thus performing the selective photothermolysis process. This process is ensured by the fact that the laser has an Alexandrite crystal that operates at a wavelength of 755 nm, ideal for the absorption of energy by the melanin.

 

The Mini GentleLase works with various penetration levels through the use of different sized spacers. This is particularly important in optimizing treatment as it allows for customization according to skin color, hair color, and density.

 

This equipment features a dynamic cooling device to maximize patient safety and comfort. It can also work in conjunction with a refrigeration unit (Zimmer), making treatment more comfortable for the patient through its constant emission of cold air.
